I met Laura through her sisters - Natalie and Amy. I had worked with them for a few years, and was quite close to them. Laura came to help us at a leasing centre for a new construction project. The day wasn't going well. We were tired, we were angry, we were spent. Laura came bouncing in - full of light - and instantly, the room brightened. She came over to me, said "You're Emily? My sisters love you. I want to hug you". And she did.
Then she sat down, and made about a hundred phone calls to angry parents and students - so we didn't have to. She took on a task that we were too tired, and too spent to pick up. She did that for hours.
Finally, she walked the whole room - and asked who had eaten, and who still needed to eat, and covered each station, until everyone had had dinner.
I'll never forget those acts of kindness. I'll never forget that hug. I'll never forget how she made me feel. I feel lucky to have known Laura, and to have shared some fun days together.
