Memory from Laura Tolhoek

Laura and I had the privilege of friendship pre-social media... looking back on memories I had with her meant pulling out actual photos albums. We struck a bond during our late teens and early twenties, it was a time of minimal responsibility and much free time. Even with 5 years difference between us, we were L1 and L2. We would eat too much candy, stay up too late, and watched the same movie multiple times in a 24 hour period. We'd park at the beach, staring at the sunset with bottles of Jones Soda and listening to Crash Into Me by Dave Matthews on repeat... all evening. Being with her was always destined to be a good time. She'd had the ability to make something mundane into an adventure at any opportunity. We did a lot of growing up over the next decade but I will always remember her for being a part of the simple joys of youth.
